The Biker Bandit and the Cranberry Kid , otherwise known as Anthony Carleo has been sentenced to 3 - 11 years in prison for robbing the Bellagio casino back on December 14th, 2010. The court room was filled with media, friends and family when the sentence was handed down. Family included his father, George Assad, a former Las Vegas Municipal Judge. I'm very sorry for everything I've done. I owe my mother and my father an apology. Carleo told Judge Michelle LeavittHe admitted that he was the one who entered the Bellagio on Dec 14th, wearing all black and a full faced motorcycle helmet, went into the craps area and stole $1.5 million in casino chips. There were many $25,000 in cranberry colored chips, hence the name The Cranberry Kid . Then he rode off on a motorcyle. Carleo also admitted to stealing $18,945 from a cashier's cage at the Suncoast casino on Dec 9th. He will be sentenced for that crime on Aug 25th. He is looking at charges of robbery with a deadly weapon in this instance. His lawyer is going to ask that both sentences run concurrently, depending on what his actual sentence will be come Aug 25th. The prosecuting attorney wants the sentences to run consecutively. Stating, in so many words, that this kid had every opportunity in the world, including financial support from his family, he terrorized his victims and needs to pay the price. Drugs (legal and illegal) and gambling turned this kid into the criminal that he is. He had moved to Las Vegas to further his UNLV education. Caesars palace was his next hit until he was arrested.
