Is it possible to play in fun mode, rack up raffle tickets and maybe if you win a raffle, you might get credited in your real account? Would that be a draw to playing for fun?

I got one of those the other day, but when I played on a free chip for a couple of hours I got one for the real money side. What's it gonna hurt to give you a freebie every once in a while anyway? They shouldmake sure and identify that free fun money as that so you don't even have to open it!

Yeah, I have won a real free chip after winning a raffle. And only after playing in real money mode. So your free chip was really real money, right Trish?

Is this the casino that requires you to fill out a w-9 form if you win, and it is only for USA players. Am I the only one who smells something funny?I would stay far away from this place. I mean seriously ppl what do you think they do with the form you fill out, they send it in, oh and last I checked, the good ole USA is still banned from online gambling?

They must have got around some loophole as they don't call themselves a casino. They are a sweepstakes site that converts your purchases of spree credits (that you can then purchase merchandise on virtualspree.com with) into game chips. From there you are able to convert winnings from the free chips into real cash and cash it out. I think since they are asking for W-9's, they are legit as they are reporting your winnings to the IRS.Most online casinos have nothing to do with our IRS and leave it to the player to deal with their winnings and taxes on their own.

I figured it out. If you do not have a balance to play in fun mode, you must BUY fun credits!!!!! Yes, pay real money just so you can play in fun mode!I was in fun mode and clicked on the cashier to see about upping my balance and it gave a range of say 100 coins for $2.99 and 10,000 coins for $99.99. (something like that). I continued on figuring I would just get credited the for fun chips. Well I eventually got to the page where it wanted my CC info just like if I was playing in real mode. So again I ask ............... WHY??? Why would anyone BUY chips that can only be played in fun mode??????
confuse.gif
Then I get two emails today .......... Now I understand why these play for fun mode free chips raffle wins have some sort of value. Not that they are worth anything because you cannot cash out from them. But you can play in fun mode without having to BUY fun chips! <table class="bgTop" style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;width:585px;" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">  <table class="bg" style="font-family:Arial, sans-serif;width:585px;" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" bgcolor="#ffffff"><a href="http://www.cleosviproom.com/" >

I am not a tax expert and it would be beneficial to any winners to ask a tax expert about their winnings and how to claim them when filing their taxes. Here is an explanation as to what a w-9 is used for. Some people have received a request for Form W-9 from landlords and other people or businesses. Form W-9 is used to officially ask a person or business to provide their name, address, and taxpayer identification number so that the requesting party can properly issue tax documents to the IRS. In general, the types of businesses that request Form W-9 is any business that pays you interest, dividends, non-employee compensation, and certain other types of reportable income. If you receive a W-9 from an unlikely source, ask why they need the W-9 form and how it will be used.So Cleo's is gathering your information so they can properly issue tax documents to the IRS . Now if properly issuing docs to the IRS means they are paying the taxes on your winnings to the IRS, then that's great but I would get absolute confirmation on that. It would not be good to find out they reported your winnings and then you did not claim them as income when filing your taxes.I'm not saying they didn't pay the taxes or you have to claim the winnings when filing. All I'm saying to cover your butt and find out for sure. you is not directed at just you, sambeau. This is good info for everyone. :)

Hi and good morning to NDF!!!  I am trying to understand which form it is that is either being requested or that the casino is filling out and submitting to government? The reason asking is I was a manager at a sweepstakes store in Layton, UT and we all know that gambling is a big fat NO NO in UT, therefore if there is a will there is a way so to speak?!? Right? Well, at my store we had a software program that had slots, keno. cards.....you get the idea, well as a paying customer you was purchasing internet time at an extremely low cost and in turn you was given x amount of sweepstakes pieces that each piece was revealed through or software games. Anyways, I did have to have a customer fill out and know that if ONE jackpot over the amount of $599.99 was won then they had to fill out a w2g form that was reported to the irs? You understand that if a customer redeemed their winnings and it was more than $599.99 but that was after an accumulated winnings NOT from ONE jackpot, are ya still with me?? LOL :surprise:So is this the same kind of paperwork that the casino's are doin?  Hope I didn't confuse anyone. Will gladly explain if any questions to my question....LOL  Thanks have a great Monday everyone!!  Norleen8

Found this on the internet. Since this is being portrayed as a sweepstakes.Taxes on Sweeps? The quick answer for the first question is yes. The sponsors should send you a 1099 for prizes you won over the value of $600. Not every sponsor does this (although they are supposed to) but that does not get you off of the hook for claiming that prize on your taxes. You should still claim the prize value on your taxes as other income. Sponsors may report smaller prizes to the IRS but do not send you paperwork.

Hi Norleen, I think Cleo's (I am not calling them a casino) is the one to answer these questions. I know I can't answer them for you.The true online casinos don't ask for anything from players regarding taxes on winnings as far as I know and have experienced with the cashouts I have made.  If I had a cashout at Cleo's, sent in my paperwork and understood the whole process with them, maybe I would be able to answer your questions regarding Cleo's.  This is off topic sort of ............ I had a chance at a great cashout recently at Cleo's and might have been able to shed more light for you (here's the rant) BUT blew it again!!!!! UGH!!!!!!!I am so tired of doing that to myself. I keep beating myself up over cashouts that I never do. Some day I will realize that I don't like black eyes and will  freakin' cash the F out!!!!!!!!!!!!  lol

An update about the Play for Fun at Cleo's. I have had my fun account balance upped to $100 out of the blue quite a few times now. There is no need to purchase fun chips after all.

I can ssure you this place is on the up and up and run by one FORTUNE MAGAZINES top 500 private companies.  This is all legit and above board , hence the W-9

Hello...In defense of Cleo's VIP, I just wanted to copy the entire link of the W9 for anyone wishing to review it, here: http://www.docs.cleosviproom.com/W9.pdf.......I have a check in route from them now, was just approved......I will let you know when I receive it (also when it clears), just to assure players, who might question them. I personally have no problem, playing at (or claiming) money that I can ACTUALLY win at an online casino as I know there are SOOO many rogue online casinos out there today. It's nice to find one (one my end anyways), I can play from the comfort of my own home without having to drive over two hours, with the high gas prices to play in my chair, lol! I have also had winnings (jackpots of course) at the landbased casinos and had to fill out paperwork and receive w9's from them as well, so I don't mind.
