Remember when (a couple of months ago) the state of Florida cracked down on internet cafes, raided some establishments and then hastily put into law an end to illegal gambling devices in strip malls and arcades throughout the state. ? That story was reported here. Well, during their haste and according to a recently submitted complaint, the lawmakers banned any computer or device connected to the internet. This includes your personal computer and your cellphone! The ban defines illegal slot machines as any system or network of devices that may be used in a game of chance. And that broad wording can be applied to any number of devices, according to the Miami law firm of Kluger, Kaplan, Silverman, Katzen & Levine, who worked with constitutional law attorney and Harvard professor Alan Dershowitz.
