HELP.....I have a case of Screen Tearing

Hi gang: My computer is experiencing the following . Screen tearing is a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_artifact" title="Visual artifact">visual artifact</a> in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video" title="Video">video</a> where information from two or more different <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_frame#Video_frames" title="Film frame">frames</a> is shown in a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Display_device" title="Display device">display device</a> in a single screen draw.<sup class="reference">[ 1] </sup>The artifact occurs when the video feed sent to the device isn't in sync with the display's refresh, be it due to non-matching <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refresh_rate" title="Refresh rate">refresh rates</a> in which case the tear line moves as the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phase_difference" title="Phase difference">phase difference</a> changes (with speed proportional to difference of frame rates) or simply lack of sync between two equal frame rates, in which case the tear line is at a fixed location corresponding to the phase difference. During video motion, screen tearing creates a torn look as edges of objects (such as a wall or a tree) fail to line up. Does anyone have any input to this problem? Any tips or tricks I could try?It is incredibly frustrating to say the least. I cant get anything done when it happens. It happens on all browsers I try.I have a Dell SR2220L Monitor. 1920x 1080 resolution. Refresh rate 60hz.It is a Intel(R) HD Graphics Card. ( integrated)I havent a clue what to try first.  It did it from almost the week I got the computer, so I cant believe it is the video card, but anything is possible.Any input would be appreciated.                                                                      Pam

I can't visualize what screen tearing actually is. After googling, I ran across a few help forums and this stood out. A lot of the discussions are in regards to playing games and not actual browsers. Good luck with this, Pam. Hope you get it fixed.

So it seems like a tradeoff - high detail and screen tearing, or drop resolution and detail a bit and no tearing. pilchard27 writes... it seems like a tradeoff - high detail and screen tearing, or drop resolution and detail a bit and no tearing. I just turn down the detail, shaders etc. I find that screen tearing annoys me far more than slightly worse graphics.
