cat, I don't know where to get a free version of Word. I use a program from Open Office and it's free. It has most of the same programs that the Office suite has like a word processor, excel. etc.You are able to save your documents in Open Office in a .doc format which can be opened in Word. Just make sure when you choose to save as you change the file extension to the .doc format. Simple!Here's the link so you can check it out.  http://www.openoffice.org/
