Harry Reid has changed his tune about online gambling, with suspicious speed. Casino reporter says Reid is now sounding like Sheldon Adelson on the issue and has said that the proliferation of online gambling “is not good for our country,” and that it is an “invitation to crime.” He added that it is hard enough to control within four walls, but given the internet, online gambling poses a hazard.
Casino reporter thinks that Reid struck a deal with Sheldon Adelson, Las Vegas Sands CEO and huge Republican donor who has been outspoken against online gambling. Reid, on the other hand, has tried to make legislation that would be supportive of online gambling, until now. So what changed?
Sheldon Adelson wants to see the Restoration of America’s Wire Act to be added to a spending bill, and perhaps has offered to help Reid in his 2016 reelection. Of course, this has been denied and is all speculation, but it explains why Reid changed his tune.
