Slot Overview
Look to Native American mythology and there you will find the legendary Thunderbird. The Thunderbird is frequently depicted in song and art, art such as the Thunderbirds seen on top of some totem poles. The Thunderbird is considered a supernatural being that controls the upper world, throwing lightning at the underwater creatures and flapping its wings to create thunder. The Menominee tell story of a floating mountain in the Western sky where Thunderbirds dwell in great stone nests.
You can discover this mythological creature in one of Rivals newest slot games aptly named Thunderbird. This new video slot was released July 2016 and it has everything you come to expect from a RivalPowered slot game.
In addition to the standard J through A slot symbols Thunderbird’s game symbols consist of Native American items like costumes and drums used in sacred ceremonies as well as animals such as snakes bears and hawks like those found on totem poles.
The hawk symbol serves as the wild and carries a times two multiplier. This wild will replace any other symbol to form a winning pay-line. Even something as simple as lining up three symbols is totally engaging while playing Thunderbird since all symbols have some 3D animation that play out when lined up.
There are basically two features in Thunderbird, the first being the free spins feature which is activated when three or more free spin symbols appear anywhere on the screen. The free spin symbol appears to be some sort of red fish. Three of these symbols will award ten free spins and four symbols will award twenty free spins while the coveted five free spin symbols will get you a whopping fifty free spins! During the free spins expanding wilds appear on reels one, two, three and four.
Thunderbird’s other feature can only be found during the free spins feature and that is the Super Spirit Round. During the free spins three or more Super Round icons trigger five Super Spirit Round spins and the first reel features a continuous expanding wild for the duration of the super round.
While I was able to see the free spins round I was not lucky enough to activate the Super Spirit Round while in them. When the free spins begin the background changes and the Thunderbird makes it rain while a pan flute plays in the distance. At the end of the free spins I was satisfied with my tidy sum and I certainly enjoyed this game enough to play it again, hopefully I’ll see the super round next time.
I highly recommend giving Thunderbird a few spins if you haven’t already. I chose to play it at Desert Nights, but it could be found at your favorite Rival casino.
