Let the banning begin! Tucson Unified School District (our largest school district), is deciding the fate of e-cigs on campus. I understand why they wouldn't want children to be exposed to them but this is the beginning of e-cigs being banned at malls, restaurants, etc. Mark my words. lolTUCSON, AZ (<a href="http://www.tucsonnewsnow.com/story/22908794/tusd-to-decide-tonight-on-e-cigarettes?utm_source=buffer&utm_campaign=Buffer&utm_content=buffere879f&utm_medium=facebook" >Tucson News Now</a>) - Happening today, the Tucson Unified School District will consider banning the use of e-cigarettes. Tobacco use is already banned on TUSD campuses, but now the district says they are trying to keep up with technology. Tonight the TUSD Governing Board will consider banning the use of e-cigarettes by students, staff and the public on school grounds. E-cigarettes are becoming more popular. Some consider them healthier than real cigarettes because of their varying levels of nicotine. The problem for school officials is that the two types of e-cigarettes look identical so they cannot tell whether it is a nicotine-free device or not. There is also the fear that the use could lead teens to smoking real cigarettes. Several states have imposed bans on e-cigarettes including several airlines. Arizona State University is going smoke free in August and e-cigarettes are included in the ban. TUSD will consider banning e-cigarettes tonight. The board meeting starts at 7 p.m.Stay with Tucson News Now online and on air for updates on the board's decision. Here's my Facebook reply to those who are slamming e-cigs ... Michele V - I'm making the switch to e-cigs as a healthier alternative to smoking conventional cigarettes. 4 additives compared to 4000 has got to be healthier in my mind. For those of you who haven't smoked ever don't understand the physical and mental addiction of smoking. I'm not saying to applaud those who choose to vape showing off and such, but those who are trying to really stop smoking, even if by way of an e-cig, should be applauded. Now with that said, I am definitely for banning e-cigs on high school campuses. But what worries me is that the ban will continue to spread to other places and with an uneducated public on the differences between smoking and vaping, it will spread like wildfire. And regarding the comment about EBT users (which I am not but just saying ...), if you feel you are paying for their e-cig, you must be paying for their clothes on their backs too. Ban their clothes now! -- Edited by Mben on Tuesday 23rd of July 2013 01:26:23 PM
